Chapter Eight

Erin's point of view.

It's been over an hour since Raul moved from the door; although he never knocked after I closed it, I was surprised by how long he waited.

There's a timid knock on the door, and I sigh as I get up, ready to take a peep through the peephole; I know I need to talk to Raul as we will have to deal with his investment of the Star Gazer at some point, but I'm too mad to deal with him right now, I let out a sigh of relief when I see that's its Leah standing in my doorway and not her brother.

I slip the bolt across before opening the door; she gives me a half smile as I ask, "What are you doing here, Leah? It's getting late, and you have school tomorrow."

"Please, can I stay here tonight? I had an argument with Raul, and I don't want to go home."
