Chapter 16: The Job offer 1

Miss Madeline was knitting a sweater when she heard a knock on her door. She wondered who it could be. She got up and went to open the door. There she saw her long time friend Martha.

"Martha what a suprise, please come in." She said sweetly.

"Thank you Maddie, it's been a while."

"Yes it has, have your sit." She went and brought some tea for the both of them. "How are things at the castle.

"Terrible. It's even more worse than when the former king died." Martha said softly.

"Yes, prince Edwin's death was tragic."

"It indeed was, princess Ella didn't take the news well at all. She's actually just started getting over it."

"It's not possible to get over it. This war as come with many losses." Said Miss Madeline.

"Some of the maids have already resigned because of it. They say that they prefer helping their family who really needs them. Most of their people have been displaced without having a place to live." Said Martha.

"I understand. How are you coping with it?"

"It's difficult.
