“Hmm, so what could this mysterious thing that you want me to see be?” Nicole questioned him.
“You will know,” he replied to her, deep down Henry was conflicted about telling her the truth. “We would take a walk into the woods, it is probably going to be our first walk since you recovered,” he told her.
Once he uttered the word ‘recovered’ it seemed to have triggered some sort of memory loop in her mind. Another set of memories flashed through her head, this time it seemed to be the last moments just before an accident. She froze in her tracks for a while, unable to speak or move.
“are you alright?” Henry asked her, it seemed like Nicole had blanked out yet she was still awake but she made no reply to him.
“what is wrong?” he asked again in a more worried tone, this time he grabbed her by the shoulders and tried getting her attention. She snapped out from what seemed to be a trance, her memories were returning and they were returning fast.
“what the hell was that Nicole?” he asked, he was a bit scared and confused when the episode occurred.
“I am not sure, they were strong thoughts. Maybe more like memories,” Nicole explained to Henry, “what scares me is that I do not understand the memories, but somehow I know that they are mine,” she uttered.
“what kind of memories? Tell me about them,” Henry asked.
“they are never complete, it always comes part by part but one constant thing is an accident. There were two other people in the crash, a man and a woman,” she narrated to Henry, “It has happened a couple of times these past few days. It did not seem important, so I did not mention it to you,” she explained.
“hmm, that’s weird. When did all begin?” he inquired from her.
“It was just a minor fall some days ago, after that I began experience the episodes. I guess it was because I hit my head.” She narrated, “Maybe it is probably my brain just acting based on the concussion I suffered,” Nicole told Henry, she had no idea what was actually going on.
“Look, there has been something I had been hiding from you all these while and it makes me feel like a bad person.” Henry confessed to Nicole, “I just thought that it was not appropriate to break such a news to you, since you were still recovering from the accident you were in,” he explained, Henry knew that if he ever wanted to tell Nicole the truth he had to build up the courage and get it done.
“what are you talking about?” she questioned him in a subtle voice. Henry looked into Nicole’s blue eyes, it screamed curiosity, fear and confusion all at once. Every second that Henry delayed his words fuelled Nicole’s curiosity.
“You were not alone during the accident, there where actually two other individuals with you in the wreck but by the time I got there it was already too late for them. I tried my best but...,”
“who were the individuals?” she interrupted Henry.
“It was a man and a woman, probably in theory thirties.” He recalled, “i think they were your parents,” he told her.
“my parents? I can’t remember who they were, the memories are incomplete and fuzzy. There are no recognisable faces in my head,” Nicole uttered. It was not Henry expected at all, he had envisioned a depressed Nicole after the reveal but she could not completely relate to people she could barely remember.
“I thought that maybe the truth would enable you get back some of your memories at least the important ones,” Henry told Nicole. His eyes widened while his brows were raised, although Henry was surprised he felt a bit of relief deep down knowing that Nicole was not depressed.
“maybe it would eventually come in handy as time goes on, anyway what was this important thing you wanted to show me?” Nicole asked, changing the topic entirely.
Initially Henry planned to tale her to the crash site and tell her the truth, even the wreckage did not exist anymore somehow, he felt it would help with her memories. He saw no need for any of that anymore, it was of no use so he made up an excuse.
“Yea, about that. There is this amazing lake just a few minutes away.” He replied to her, “I hope you are not frightened by water bodies?” he inquired.
“not really, but I have no idea how to swim though,” Nicole confessed to him.
“Oh! I guess I would have to show you a few tricks when we get there,” Henry replied to her.
“That is cool by me, moreover I love adventures.” Nicole said to him with a soft flirty voice, she grabbed his hands gently.
Henry took Nicole through the woods, it was obvious that the paths had not been walked for a long time. It was wet outside, and the ground was a bit mushy making it quite difficult to walk but that did not seem to matter. Moreover there was no harm in getting dirty, even if it was for a day.
It took them about ten minutes to navigate their way to the river, it seemed like they had gone through a portal to another world. It happened to be just at the foot of a waterfall, flowing mildly.
“wow!” Nicole exclaimed. Her jaw slacked and her mouth was left open as she turn almost three hundred and sixty degrees, trying to get a glimpse of the whole place. “how come you never mentioned this place to me?” she asked Henry.
“I haven't been here in a while,” Henry told her, “I miss the warmth of the water,” he added. Henry took a dive without hesitating.
“come along!” Henry screamed after the splash.
She was hesitant, “you know I have a phobia for that, I think I would be okay here just watching you do your thing,” she uttered.
“face your fears dear, it’s fun,” he told Nicole, persuading her to come along.
“Ok, okay... just turn around let me take off my cloths,” she said to him with a flirty smile. She slowly submerged herself into the river, as Henry reached out to her assisting her movement.
Everything seemed to be going fine, Henry got out of the river to rest for a while on the bank. All of a sudden, Nicole experienced another episode of her memories. She lost control and immediately began to drown.
Just a moment ago, Henry and Nicole seemed to be having a good time and all of a it was a race to prevent Nicole from going to the bottom of the river. Fortunately, Henry acted very fast. Without hesitation, he immediately dove into the river and reached out to Nicole. Her black out episodes were getting increasingly frequent and persistent, initially she would experience flashes of her memories but now she was blacking out for minutes. It scared him and Henry blamed himself, since he thought that it was the werewolf blood he had introduced into Nicole's body. Once he brought her to the shore, he began applying some pressure to her chest trying his best to resuscitate her but she was not responding. He panicked when he realized that his efforts to enable her regain consciousness was not working. Even if she had the blood of a wolf, she had never turned so Nicole was still a mere mortal human. “achoo!” Nicole sneezed as she opened her eyes slightly, “Henry, what hap
Just as Nicole was trying avoid waking Henry up, she unknowingly nudged him a little bit waking him up. Twisting and turning, Henry woke up. His eyes struggling to remain steady as he tried holding them open, “Good morning,” Nicole uttered quietly, “I did not mean to wake you up,” she added, feeling quite remorseful for breaking his beauty sleep. “Oh please, it is fine. Moreover I seem to have overslept a bit,” he replied to Nicole. “Anyway, I hope you had a good night sleep?” he inquired. “Of course dear, staying by your side always keeps me at peace,” she said to him, “You look handsome when you sleep,” she commented. “really? You are even more attractive regardless of the situation,” he replied, “Wait a minute!” Henry exclaimed as he began turning his head around like he was in search of something. “what is it?” Nicole asked Henry, she was confused with the sudden mood change. “Do you know what the time is?” he asked, “I think I am already late fo
Henry had not yet gotten a license yet, but that was the only option if they were going to make it in time."hop in, will you?" Henry asked, gesturing at the front seat.Nicole nodded and slid into t.he passenger seat of Henry's car. He hadn't really been expecting much from him when Adam first The seats were covered with a couple of books, that she tossed behind. She sat crisscrossed on one, watching him buckle his seatbelt and turn on the engine. He smiled, then started the car, shifting gears and taking off down the street. It'd be a long drive, but the sooner they got there the better. They wouldn't have time for the usual small talk between friends.Nicole watched him carefully while he drove, until they were on the main road."I just hope we don't meet the cops on our way," Henry uttered, glancing over. He turned towards Nicole briefly, giving her a quick smile.Nicole returned the gesture and looked down at the book she was holding. It wasn't something important or particular
When she finally managed to regain consciousness the next day, her memories had fully been regained. The first thing that occurred to her was the fact that everything hurt. Everything throbbed in pain. She tried to move but it all felt wrong. When she attempted to turn over, a wave of nausea overtook her and she felt something wet dripping down her chin. That's when her eyes snapped open, staring at nothing. Her head felt like someone had jammed cotton balls inside it, and she could barely move. Where am I? As if summoned by her thoughts, there was a soft, familiar voice speaking. She strained her ears, trying to catch what was being said. “Hey, Nicole. How are you feeling?” Who… She tried to speak, but found that her mouth felt incredibly dry. The sound only came out as a croak. Her throat was burning. As she opened her mouth again, however, another unfamiliar voice spoke up. “Don't strain yourself just yet, Nicole." Henry said to her, "you blacked out since yesterday, I've ne
After a long time, Nicole was finally ready to go back to her previous life to search for the answers she needed. Henry was quite supportive, they both had already planned the journey but Henry could not possibly leave his family just like that only to follow Nicole in her endeavours. He didn't open up to Nicole about him being part of it, he just supported everything she did and helped her make plans. When the day came around for them to set off on their travels, Nicole felt uneasy and she didn't know why. She felt scared as well but she wanted to do this. She needed to do it, even if she would never admit it out loud. She knew that it wasn’t going to be easy, that her mind may try to convince her otherwise. She was even more agitated once Henry explained to her why he could not actually join in her journey, she was sad and a bit angry since he was just telling her after all these while."why did you make me think you would come?" She said looking down at the ground, tears begin
Henry had already made all the reservations needed for Nicole's travel, including airport tickets and any other financial support she needed. His parents were wealthy and all of that was not a problem for him to accomplish, they just had to leave for the airport as early as possible. Obviously they needed to sneak into his family's estate and use one of the vehicles just like they did a few days ago. This time Henry wanted to be the one taking care of everything, he wanted Nicole's journey to be as smooth as possible, that was the least he could do since he was not coming along.Just before the break of dawn, it was about 5 O'clock in the morning and they had already started going to the airport. It was just a few minutes drive from their current location, and they had only left that early to avoid any eyes from seeing them. Henry had successfully hidden Nicole from the other members of his family for many weeks, and not even one person suspected any thing."phew!" Henry exclaimed, "
Once Nicole got off the flight at the airport, reality began to set in. She immediately realized that she had no idea where she was going, although she knew the name of her father's lawyer but Nicole did not have the slightest idea where he lived. Her father, while he was a man of many words, never really gave any details on the family's home. Already stressed from the flight, she went ahead to lodge in a hotel. This few weeks had disconnected Nicole almost completely from the world, she slid the new phone that Henry for her a few days ago before she returned to Colorado.Even if she had used one of those before, it seemed quite strange to her at first but with every passing moment she began understanding. Once she switched on the device, she called the number Henry had saved into her phone, that was the only means to get across to him.~~~It was unlike Peter, he had not stepped out of the house since morning. He'd normally spend most of his time in the cabin for a reason best
Once it was morning the first thing Henry did was to get a call across to Nicole, he could not wait to let her know about the recent development. It was just about 6 O’clock in the morning when Henry called, she was still fast asleep but she was awoken by the sudden sound that came from her phone when he called. “hey, Good morning,” Henry uttered once she picked up the call, “I am sorry for calling this early but I think I’ve got really good news for the both of us,” he said to Nicole. “Its fine dear, I was already about to wake up,” she replied, Nicole did not want Henry to feel like he was disturbing her, “so what is this news about?” she asked curiously. “so… I am going to be getting a college in Colorado, that way we would be able to meet again this time, we could spend as much time as we want,” he pointed out to Nicole, she could literally feel his joy over the phone as he chuckled slightly after he talked. “That is amazing,” Nicole uttered, she was truly
