CHAPTER 30: BEACHSIDE CONFESSIONS

"When was your first time?" He inquires, just before taking a sip to settle the score for shutting down my previous question regarding how he and Kalix met.

Max and I had only left downtown by 10:00 pm, and neither of us felt like calling it a night just yet. We swung by my dorm for me to change out of my dress and then headed to Goleta Beach Park. Max had some liquor stashed in his car's trunk, so we've been playing Twenty-one Questions ever since we got here.

In this edition, there are no forbidden questions, but none can be repeated. If we choose not to answer, we must take a sip from our bottle.

I just wrapped up my eleventh question for Max, and he's just asked his.

"With you," I reply with a poker face, and his eyes widen as he nearly chokes on the fiery alcohol.

"You're fibbing," he eventually asserts as if it's common knowledge, and I can't help the laughter that escapes from deep within me.

"And you're incredibly gullible," I tease him. Seriously, though, did he forget me men
