Not intentional

"Hello Grandpa" Rose greeted Russell.

Instead of reacting to her greeting, he simply turned away from her. No smile, nothing. He dismissed her. His intent is clear. He doesn't want to talk to her. She is not welcome in his room.

'Is he angry with me for some reason? Is that why he is not talking to me?' she wondered.

She should have him alone because he doesn't want to talk to her. But she couldn't bring herself to do that. She wanted to know why he was upset with her and what she could do to make it right.

"Grandpa, are you angry with me?" she asked softly.

She is still standing just a step inside his room and did not dare to go inside.

Russell scoffed bitterly at her question.

"Angry? Who am I to be angry with you? I am just a nobody. An inconvenience for all of you" he muttered feeling betrayed.

Rose gasped with shock at his words.

"Grandpa? Why are talking like that? Tell me what I did to upset you this way. Please" she pleaded with him and took a few steps inside his room.
