We spent the next few days in this way. I took Jase to the theme park every day while Leila stayed at the hotel to rest. By the time we were about to leave, she was looking much better, and Jase was an extremely happy little boy. He wanted nothing to do with baby food, having skipped right over it and straight to adult food. He was the equivalent of a two-year-old child now, and was running everywhere. It was a good thing that I was a vampire. I took care of Jase most of the time in an effort to give Leila time to rest … and it was working.

Two days later, she snuggled into my side in the limo, as we pulled away from the Disney property, headed toward Charles De Gaulle Airport, where John and Margarite were waiting for us with the Learjet.

“My goodness, Jase is getting so big!” Margarite exclaimed, having not seen him in a few days. “May I?” she asked. When I nodded, a broad smile spread across her face as she reached out to take Jase.
