I headed toward the bathroom and closed and locked the door, knowing he was right. At that moment, I realized that if I didn’t start being a wife to Lance, I was going to lose him, too. I turned on the shower, letting the water warm as tears slid down my face. I wrapped my arms around myself, trying to hold myself together, but it was no use. I collapsed onto the floor, sobbing.
