Chapter 24 : Intruders

Eden's POV

I turn over in bed, unable to sleep.

All I've seen since Sal was shot earlier today is his face when he looked at me like he couldn't wait to kill me first. I can't comprehend such disdain; he didn't even know me!

"Come on, kitten," Dante breathes, holding me to his chest. "Try to fall asleep. You need to rest."

I shiver, his arms looped over my hips. Ryder brushes my cheek, his lips grazing the very tip of my nose. Neither of them has slept since we laid down a few hours ago, but they are waiting for me to give into it first. If that's the case, it's going to be a long night.

"I shouldn't have been there," I breathe. "It's my fault. I got upset when you were both working so much, but to actually be there—I was wrong. I'll never be upset about it again, I promise."

Ryder exhales against my forehead, his lips permanently placed there. "It's not your fault. We knew Sal was going to be replaced, but when he threatened to kill us, it had to be done then. Vince is an
