“Going somewhere, little devil.”

I gasped as I recognised his voice, my blood chilling in my veins. I slowly looked up and sure enough I found him standing at the threshold of the castle like a beast. In the darkness only his eyes shone like two burning embers and I swallowed at the way his features hardened.

I blinked at him, for a moment I thought I was hallucinating until he took a step forward and the moon cast shadows across his face, and lightening half of it showing the rage that dripped from him like molten lava. His golden eyes stared at me like he hated me. “One would think it wouldn’t hurt this much when you already know what’s going to happen.”

My lips parted on a shocked exhale. I didn’t understand. He drank the wine. There were two of those sleeping pills. I blinked at him as I choked out, “How?”

He didn’t respond to my question. His voice was cold and clipped as he ordered, “Let’s go inside.”
