Chapter 44: Dinner Date

When Haylee came home to the lakehouse after school that day, she went straight to lock herself inside the bedroom. She spent her free time doing some school homework and studying. She tried to divert her mind from thinking about the things that happened at school before. It was a terrible day for her. 'Niel will come tonight. How should I handle him?' She wondered. She felt mentally exhausted that day and she felt like she wanted to just sleep. But then again, it was harder to even get to sleep when her mind kept betraying her and thought about Niel all the time.

She only came out from the bedroom when it was almost dusk. When she was out, she saw Martha was preparing a small square dining table at the lakehouse deck at the back of the house. The deck was built on the lake and was connected to the lakehouse like a back porch. Haylee approached Martha slowly.
