The ride back home was silent. I pondered about the moonstone as I ran my fingers through the fur on my hands which were slowly spreading to my shoulder and then my chest. Lizzy would glance at me and then speed up when she saw how thick my fur was getting. I looked at myself from the rearview mirror. I had started to grow ears at the top of my head and my nose was turning into a snout. My canines were growing long and sharp and my mouth was too small for it so it pierced my jaw. It turns out that Sharon is super strong. She single-handedly carried Mike all the way to his room and laid him on his bed. He was half-conscious, his voice barely a whisper and his body weakened. His muscles looked like they had been deflated a little, a complete shadow of the man he was just a few minutes ago. He had a high fever and Sharon tried to cool him down with a wet towel. It was all so sudden and so strange. "Mike, what is happening?", Sharon mutters worriedly as she dabs his forehead with a wet towel. I bring the bowl of cold water closer to Sharon and try to comfort Mike. After all, he was the only one who could help us defeat the Archers. At the other end of the room, Andrea quizzed Lizzy about how she felt during the ritual. She was being suspiciously helpful; I feared it was in a way meant to mock Lizzy. "You didn't feel a sharp pain in your chest? So painful that you wanted to scream?" Lizzy shook her head. She had put on normal clothes but still wore the beads.
