64. WE ARE GOING OUT

"How do you feel?" Benhail asked Emery.

"I don't want to go with you yet. The cot, Mimi's clothes, toys and everything. I don't want to see them for now."

"I know and I am not asking you to go with me now. I will give you all the time in the world to heal, but I don't want you to push me away anymore. Let me stay with you, let's pass through this phase together." He intertwined their fingers, staring intently into her eyes. "I got you pregnant, she was our baby."

Emery smiled. She had suffered alone all this while, but it felt better now that he was with her.

"I am sorry I left the house without telling you. I was just so sad, I didn't want to remain in the house. I felt there was no need to stay."

"You wouldn't have left if I had been more open about my feelings for you. I stalled, and I regret that because you suffered alone." He kneaded her fingers with his thumb. "But I am here for you if you'll let me stay."
