Chapter 28

The next day brought full bellies and Allie’s continued survival, much to my chagrin. A good night’s rest and meal had everyone’s spirits up despite the circumstances. The Red River members had gone to make sure they had everything they currently needed, and to say goodbye to their homes for a bit. This was not goodbye forever, but we didn’t know what we would or would not find the next time we returned. Just because it was currently deserted did not mean it always would be. Maybe rogues would settle down here or the members that had fled would come back; and those members we had no idea their number, strength or where their loyalty may lay. It was a chance we would have to take if we decided to make the trek back to obtain more of their belongings.
