{Tuesday, 4 days after the blood moon}

The sheriff’s wife and daughter were sitting by my bed when I opened my eyes. The sheriff was standing by the window. And the ray of light that entered through the curtain when he opened it was what woke me up.

“Good morning, Abby,” his wife said as she handed me a glass of water.

His daughter stared at me keenly as I took the glass and drank from it. “What’s happening?” I asked, feeling uneasy about how they stared at me. “I don't remember falling asleep. How did I even get here? Last I remember, I was on the stairs.”

“Please give us a moment,” the sheriff said to his wife as he kissed her forehead.

“Of course,” she smiled weakly and left the room with their daughter.

“When I saw you,” the sheriff said. “You were above the ground and gasping for air. I was terrified… I didn’t know what to do... But when I held you and brought you down, you kept mentioning Anthony Gordon. So, I need to tell me what that was about.”
