THIRTY-SEVEN

Clarissa felt butterflies tingle down her belly as she looked at their hands entwined together on the car seat. She had no idea how to react to it. Should she remove her hands or lean in closer to him?

The butterflies seemed to intensify causing a tingle to go through her hands. Before she could react, Archer pulled his hands away from hers.

“I’m so sorry… I mean, I shouldn’t have touched you without your permission. I mean…”

A knock.

They both jumped out of their skins and looked towards the glass flustered. Sam was peering at them through the glasses. Clarissa had no idea what he was mumbling, all she knew was that there were butterflies in her tummy, and she was definitely not herself.

Archer mumbled something that she couldn’t quite pick up and walked away. Clarissa swallowed hard as Archer turned to her. She looked at him earnestly, and her stomach tightened for some reason.

“We’ve arrived,” Archer said softly.
