The soft rhythmic thudding against my ear makes my heavy feeling eyelids push upwards. I see the light through the gap of dark-colored curtains. I let my eyes shut again, relaxing into the feeling of a heavy arm wrapped around me and the warmth of his skin on mine.

My eyes snap open. I hurriedly sat up and looked around the room as I kicked my feet out of the tangled sheets. I stare at the bed as I back away. The mop of wavy dark brown hair was tangled, frizzy, and looked very different from the usual clean and kept waves.

I took a deep breath, relieved that it was Kol that I woke up next to instead of some rando from the bar. I furrow my eyebrows, trying to remember last night. The loads of alcohol I had consumed didn't help me with trying to remember anything.
