“Come on, sweetie!” Grayson pleaded. “I will give you whatever you want if you stop crying. A new dress? Or maybe a fun tricycle.”

“Grayson, are you trying to bribe our baby into not crying?” I questioned.

“I have to try everything right?”

“Give her to me,” I held out my arms. “What’s wrong sweetheart? Huh? You upset?”

Joy cried loudly in my face. I had never seen her like this. I had already fed and changed her. Maybe she needed to be burped.

“Are you gassy, sweet girl?” I asked as I bounced her and patted her back. “Maybe you need a burp.”

Her crying quieted.

“Maybe she just missed you.” Grayson stated. “I mean I know the feeling.”

“Maybe we shouldn’t go today,” I said.

“Scar, come on, we need this. We haven’t done therapy in a while. It’ll be good. And we’ve been cooped up in this house for almost two months.”

“Yeah, I guess you’re right, I just don’t want to be away from the babies.”

“They’ll be fine. We are leaving them in the capable hands of their godparents.” Grayson assur
