Chapter 2: 18 isn’t that far

Almond shaped eyes defined by black liner and soft pink full lips. Sweat dripped down the tan flawlessly looking smooth skin of his cheeks.

Luca watched the muscles in the boy’s arms and back flexed as he moved, his sleeveless shirt with a shear back leaving nothing to the imagination.

From what Luca could tell his body looked to be in perfect shape. A warm feeling spread throughout Luca’s body spreading to every fiber of his being, a warmth he’d never felt before, not that it felt bad.

“I hear he’s only going to be here for two weeks,” whispered a girl beside him.

The boy next to her chuckled lightly. “I heard he’s already signed for one of those big singing agencies.”

Similar whispers spread throughout the crowd as they watch the boy dance.

Luca’s eyes were glued to the boy, his mouth hanging open slightly. As the routine ended the crowd began clapping causing the boy to turn and smile.

Luca felt his knees go weak at the sight of the boy’s wide smile that made his eyes crinkle into small crescents and he cheeks puff out, dimples forming.

At first the black haired boy forgot to breathe until the other boy’s eyes locked with his and he sucked in a breath.

Luca’s immediate reaction was to hide and that’s just what he did as he ducked below the window and planted himself onto the floor. Several people gave him weird looks as he crawled away through the legs of the crowd.

Once he broke away from the crowd he booked it down the hall and back up the stairs to his practice room, slamming the door behind him.

He didn’t understand why his heart was pounding in his chest and he was sweating after having done nothing but stare at the boy.

Deciding to forgo the warmup he settled for chugging a bottle of water and getting his breath under control till his lesson started.

He hadn’t spotted the boy again till after one o’clock when it came to lunch and everyone was crowded in the small cafeteria on the first floor just past the teachers lounge.

The orange haired boy was laughing and joking around with some boys at a table towards the back corner and Luca couldn’t help but stare again as he stood in line for food.

At some point in his starring the boy caught his eyes again and smiled making him feel weak in the knees again, the warm feeling spreading through him once more.

With a quick decision, Luca took his lunch and once again fled to the safety of his practice room.

He hadn’t seen the boy again for the rest of the day when he locked the building at seven o’clock, a thing he was some what grateful for.

When he arrived back at his apartment he couldn’t hear anything through the front door which meant his dad was either not home or was passed out drunk, he hoped for the former.

Taking his keys from his pocket and hiding his iPod he looked down at the plain key he hated and debated on returning to the art school and staying there for the night.

As much as he wanted to, he had school in the morning and he needed his uniform from inside the apartment not to mention his homework and the five other people’s homework he was going to get paid for.

With a sigh he was about to slip the key in the lock when the door was pulled open and he was yanked inside and slammed against a wall as the door closed behind him.

Shit, his father was home and he looked pissed.

“D-Dad,” Luca stuttered as he stared up into the eyes of his father.

“Where the fuck have you been all day?” The man hissed, his grip on his son’s shirt getting tighter.

His breath reeked of alcohol as he breathed in Luca’s face.

“I w-was at school,” Luca stumbled on his words the more.

There was no point in lying as the man would always get the truth out of him no matter what.

“You mean that damn art school,” His father retorted. “How many times do I have to tell you it’s a waste of fucking time and money. How are you paying for your lessons? You’re never going to be famous so you might as well give up.”

“I won’t give up,” Luca claimed a little too loudly and his eyes narrowed.

“Don’t fucking raise your voice to me.” The man raised his hand as if going to hit the boy who squeezed his eyes shut tightly.

“I have school tomorrow!” Luca exclaimed.

There was a pause then he felt his father’s hand slip from his shirt and the boy slid to the ground.

“Lucky for you,” His father said. “Now get in the kitchen and make dinner.”

After quickly taking off his shoes, Luca bolted to the kitchen to do as he was told.

Anything to avoid his father’s wrath.

Thankfully the rest of the night went without a hitch and he managed to get away with just their encounter at the door.

As he laid in bed, headphones in his ears and his door locked, he once again looked at his wrists.

First his left, nothing, then his right.

Luca sat straight up and flicked his bedside lamp on as he stared wide eyed at his wrist.

There in light gray ink were two letters, J and E.

But Luca knew that wasn’t it nor was it all of it as he could faintly see more characters forming but they weren’t fully formed yet.

A sigh of relief slipped past his lips as a smile formed and tears welled in his eyes.

Finally, within the next couple days the name would be fully formed and he’d be able to know his soulmate.

He would be able to leave his father and live with his soulmate as his mother’s will stated.

At first when his mother’s will had been read to him and his father Luca had been surprised that it said when Luca learned the name of his soulmate that his father was to surrender custody of him and the boy was to live with his soulmate and his family until he became of legal age.

She had also left him pretty much everything she had in a trust fund he couldn’t touch till he was nineteen.

The trust fund included money, a lot of money, and a four bedroom house in Carron City that had once belonged to her brother who passed away from cancer when Luca was ten.

Being the only boy left on his mother’s side of the family he’d inherit pretty much everything that didn’t go to his aunt.

His uncle never had any kids and his aunt only had a daughter that was three years younger then him.

With a contented smile, Luca rolled onto his side and stared at his wrist till he fell asleep.
