Chapter 3: Let go

.

The rest of the week passed by with little to no abuse except a small beating on Wednesday when Luca got home too late from school and dinner wasn’t ready.

At art school he did his best to avoid the new boy, mostly. That didn’t stop him from sneaking a peak here or there because let’s face it, the new boy was pretty hot.

It wasn’t until Sunday when something out of the ordinary happened.

It was the end of the day around five o’clock and Luca was standing in the supply closet getting his things ready when he heard a voice behind him.

“Hi there.”

Confused, Luca turned around to see who it was that was talking to him, no one ever talked to him.

His eyes locked with bright orange hair, almond eyes, dimples, and the widest grin he’d ever seen.

Luca, shell shocked that the new kid he’d been crushing on was talking to him let alone near him, wasn’t paying attention to his actions as the supplies he was getting down came crashing on his head.

A bottle of bleach hit him on the side of his head causing the boy to fall to the ground clutching his temple.

“Hey are you okay?” asked the boy as he held out his hand to Luca.

Wincing the younger boy reached for the others hand only to jerk back quickly when he felt an electric pulse as soon as their fingers touched.

Scared at this new feeling and embarrassed that the boy saw him like this, Luca, face turning red, just grabbed his backpack from the floor and bolted towards the stairs.

He heard the boy call after him and even thought he heard his name but he didn’t stop till he was at the bus station two blocks away.

“Shit,” panted Luca. Bent over he clutched his knees and tried to catch his breath. “Shit.”

Not only did he run away from the new hottie at school but he also ran out on his cleaning duties not to mention the closet a chaotic mess.

“I’ll go back later…” He said to himself as he boarded the bus that would take him home.

After the hour and half trip, he entered his apartment at six thirty and was thankful that his dad wasn’t there as he flopped down on the couch and put his head in his hands.

“Stupid, stupid,” he kept muttering to himself.

He had a perfect chance to talk to the boy that wormed his way into Luca’s heart but he was too embarrassed and socially awkward that he just ran.

How could he just run away?

He could only imagine the look of disappointment on the boy’s face, it’s not like it was his fault Luca wasn’t good at talking to people.

“Tomorrow, I’ll apologize tomorrow.”

Luca opened his eyes only to notice something dark out of the corner of them.

Pulling his hands away he looked at his wrists, his heart jumping into his throat.

There on his wrists were two names, Jedidiah on the right and Williams on his left, different then the other in font but still beautiful in his eyes.

To say he was shocked was an understatement as he has never known of a person having two names on their wrists but he also knew it wasn’t impossible.

To think he had two soulmates out there looking for him made his heart burst in his chest as tears of happiness fell down his cheeks.

Finally, finally he could leave this hell hole and be with people who were meant for him.

Another thing surprised him was one name was darker then the other. Jedidiah’s name was now a shade of deep auburn, not quite red yet.

Williams was still gray.

Leaning back, staring at his wrist he tried to think of anything he’s done differently the normal. After a few minutes it hit him, the new kid.

The names started appearing the day he saw the new kid and then today when the new kid touched him there was that spark.

“Jedidiah,” he muttered under his breath.

That had to be it, that had to be the reason why Jedidiah’s name was darker.

That boy must be Jedidiah.

Rising in a flash from his seat, Luca raced into his dad’s room and to the safe in the closet.

His father had hid all their important documents in it and he didn’t think Luca knew the combination but he did. His father, though an ass, was a simple man and used his dead wife’s birthday as the passcode.

Punching it on the electronic lock quickly he opened and pulled out several documents first being Luca’s passport and second his mother’s will.

Next he pulled out his birth records and anything related to him before locking the safe back up and heading towards his room after grabbing his backpack off the couch.

Locking his door the boy placed the documents between the pages of several of his textbooks in his backpack, his father wasn’t smart enough to check them.

The boy then began packing, taking only what he needed for now, he could come back for the bigger stuff after he located his soulmate and they could go against his father together.

He grabbed his mother’s picture, wrapping it in a shirt and putting it in his backpack so it wouldn’t break.

Heading to the bathroom in the hall he grabbed his toiletries and put those in his backpack as well then zipped it up, shoving the bag under his bed. Best to hide it till he was ready to leave.

Heading to his closet Luca grabbed a duffle off the floor, shoving his only three pairs of shoes he had into it the process with his clothes.

The only thing in his closet were two hoodies and a couple of flannel button ups the rest were in his drawers as he moved to that next. He was in the process of cleaning out his sock drawer when he heard the front door slam shut.

“Shit,” He said for the third time that day. He forgot to shut and lock his door after returning from the bathroom.

As he spun around it was too late, his father was standing in his door glaring at him.

“And just what in the hell do you think you’re doing brat?” the man hissed and moved towards his son.

Luca took a step back for every step his father took forward. “I’m leaving,” he said sounding braver then he felt, “and you can’t stop me.” He only stopped when his back hit the wall.

Mr. Knights raised a brow at him. “Really? What makes you say that?”

Though he didn’t want to he did anyway and raised his wrists for his father to see.

“I know who my soulmates is, by law you have to let me go,” he said. “Mom said you have to relinquish custody of me.”

“Really? As I recall a piece of paper said that after her death,” sneered Mr. Knights as he leered at Luca’s wrists.

The man’s eyes got darker. “Two? How the hell do have two?”

The boy was terrified of the look in his father’s eyes having seen it many times before, his date must of flaked out on him today.

“D-doesn’t matter,” stuttered Luca his strength slowly leaving him. “You still have to let me go.”

The boy made to side step his dad only to be grabbed by the back of the neck in a vice like grip.

Luca cringed and whimpered as he grabbed his father’s arm. “L-let go.”

“You’re a good for nothing brat, you’re worthless,” His father said.

Out of the corner of his eye, Luca could see the man undoing his belt and he gulped knowing what was to come next.

“Do you really think your soulmates are going to want a piece of trash like you.” Luca started to struggle against his father’s hold. “You’re nothing but a disobedient slut who needs to be taught a lesson.”

“Dad, stop,” yelled Luca as he was pinned to his bedroom floor, face in the carpet. “No, stop it, let me go!” The boy did his best to thrash against his father, to try and crawl away as his father yanked his pants down to his knees.

Luca whimpered again as the man pulled his own pants down and prepared to enter his son.

Hot tears streamed down the boy’s cheeks and he all but screamed as his father ripped into him.
