Chapter 4: the dark hole exists

.

Luca didn’t know how long it had been since his father started his abuse but it felt like hours as the man took him anyway he knew possible.

By the time he was done he left an exhausted Luca on the floor of his room, voice hoarse from screaming as much as he could hoping someone would hear and help him.

The boy sobbed and curled in on himself as his father left his room slamming the door behind him.

Too tired and too sore to move to his bed, Luca fell asleep where he laid.

By the time he woke up the apartment was quiet and the clock at his bedside read nine forty five.

Wincing, Luca sat up and cringed as he felt a sticky substance running down his thighs, he wanted to throw up.

Using his desk chair as leverage, his pulled himself up and used the walls as a crutch to get him to the bathroom.

Turning on the shower, Luca took off what remained of his clothes and got in under the hot water. Not having his toiletries he grabbed the nearest bar of soap and scrubbed till his skin turned red, he felt so gross.

When he thought he was clean enough he turned off the shower and made his way back to his room where he dried off and dressed in new clothes.

It didn’t seem like his father was home and he couldn’t help but sob once more as he started packing again. He had to get out of here while he had the chance.

Luca continued to empty his drawers, not that there as much to begin with, until they were empty and he zipped up his duffle. He set his things by his window after pulling his backpack from under his bed and moved to the bathroom.

He picked up the clothes there and threw them in the trash, he’d never keep clothes after his father would rape him.

He wandered quietly to his dad’s room just in case he was there, thankfully not, and opened the top drawer of the dresser where he knew there was a stash of cash.

He counted out 12,000 dollars and shoved it in his pocket then went back to his room.

Luca shut and locked the door before making his bed up to look like he was in it, figuring it’d by him enough time to get as far as possible.

The boy knew he should go to the police now that he had his soulmates names but he wanted to at least find Jedidiah first, he didn’t feel brave enough standing up to his dad alone.

Once again he climbed out his bedroom window with his stuff and down the fire escape.

He tried for formulate a plan, maybe make his way back to his art school and look through the student records.

Can’t do that Luca, you don’t a key to the teachers rooms, he thought as he made the usual trek to school.

The boy pulled his hood up over his head so he didn’t have to look at people, not that there were many out this late.

He watched as the city flashed by, his mind was swimming with different thoughts, mostly about the things his father said.

What if the man was right, what if his soulmates didn’t want someone like him?

What if the boy at the studio wasn’t Jedidiah?

Tears welled up in his eyes and he got off at the next stop, three stops before the school.

Hoisting his bags over his shoulder, Luca just started walking his mind a muddled haze of confusion, anxiety, and loneliness.

What was he to do?

Search for a person who might not be his soulmate only to be disappointed? If he went to the police what could they do?

There must be multiple people, hundreds maybe, who could possibly have the names Williams and Jedidiah.

These thoughts didn’t do much to sooth his aching heart so when he got to the middle of the bridge the second bus he would normally take to get to the last stop near his school, he stopped.

The tears were falling freely now as a he dropped his bags and turned to look at the water.

Without really thinking he climbed up onto the cement railing, the wind whipping at his clothes and hair.

He sobbed softly and looked up at the night sky.

“Mum,” he cried. “Why!? Why did you have to leave me?”.

Taking a deep breath, Luca let out a loud screamed and it lasted almost a minute till it broke with another sob.

He felt numb inside.

The night air was cool against his skin, seeping through his thin jacket and a chill ran down his spine.

His tears were hot as they streamed down his face and his sobs wracked his body. Looking at his watch he saw it was almost midnight.

There were hardly any cars on the bridge and even less pedestrians, no one to stop him from what he was bound to do.

Looking down at his wrists he traced William and Jedidiah’s names.

“I’m sorry,” He sobbed. “I just can’t do it anymore. You both will be better off without me, you don’t need me… I’m nothing…” Luca sobbed more as he pressed the names to his forehead, his father’s words echoing in his mind.

You’re a good for nothing brat, you’re worthless.

Do you really think your soulmates are going to want a piece of trash like you.

You’re nothing but a disobedient slut who needs to be taught a lesson.

Luca screamed again though this one wasn’t nearly as loud or as long as the first.

Pulling his wrists from his forehead he looked at the names then pressed his lips against them.

“Goodbye.” He dropped his hands to his sides and took a deep breath then stepped out.

“LUCA!!!.”

The scream ripped through the night air and Luca turned his head in the direction it came from.

There he was, the boy with the orange hair, almond eyes, and heart stopping smile.

There was Jedidiah, his Jedidiah standing next to a boy with chestnut hair.

Both their eyes were wide with fear as they ran towards him, but it was too late.

Luca was falling, his body twisting in midair in a last ditch effort to stop himself, trying to catch himself or reach out for them.

Brown eyes watched as Luca and the other boy’s hand shot out to grab him only missing by inches.

“Luca!!.” Both boys yelled simultaneously.

“J-Jedi,” was the only thing Luca could whisper out before his body hit the freezing cold water and everything went black.
