Chapter 91

HAZEL

Ethan shakes his head, determination shining in his eyes.

“We'll come up with a cover story.” He says. “It will just be something to explain your absence without revealing the truth. It won't be easy, but it's worth it if it means keeping you safe.”

I'm touched by their thoughtfulness, their unwavering dedication to my well being. But as grateful as I am for their efforts, a sense of sadness washes over me like a dark cloud.

“But what about me?” I ask, my voice barely above a whisper. “What about my wolf? Don't I get a say in any of this?”

Arnold's expression softens with sympathy as he reaches out to place a comforting hand on my shoulder.

“Of course you do, Hazel.” He says, his voice gentle. “We just want to make sure that you're safe, that's all.”

I know they mean well, but the thought of being confined to a small area of the forest fills me with a sense of claustrophobia, even if I’m sure that the space would be big enough, I want everything. I've always cherished
