I woke up to someone raking their fingers through my hair as they hummed a soft tune. The tune was familiar, I recognized it but it sounded unknown to my ears. A heavy, suffocating cloud of nostalgia settled deep in my chest.

I had heard that tune before. Probably from Akasha. With a tired sigh, I peeled open my eyes, turning to gaze at whomever was toying with my hair. 

Cassandra had a soft smile painting her face. "Hey, darling." She said, her tone smooth and motherly as it had tended to be since my abduction. Her movements didn't halt nor falter, I leaned into her comforting touch with a content sigh. 

Her eyes carried worry as though something was going to happen soon. Something horrible and out of our control. She sighed softly before injecting me with a clear liquid.

The sting of the needle in my neck was barely noticeable as my eyes glazed over almost immediately, the hairs of my body standing up. I felt hot,
