Chapter Twenty Six

"You need this, here drink!" Anne offered enthusiastically while stretching her hand out. I examined Anne's hand which held a glass of champagne and she grinned widely, her eyes twinkling in mischief. Noticing my hesitation, she shoved the glass towards me. I didn't usually drink, but seeing the light in Anne's eyes, I quickly drank without second guessing. The mellow burning sensation tingled my throat as my face twisted into a grimace.

"You liked it?" Anne asked and cocked her head while I clicked my tongue. She laughed merrily and then went to dance with Luke, my cousin. Marya was dancing blithely with Andrew who was Luke's step brother. It was funny seeing the twins dance with two brothers.

All the people gathered, ate, chatted danced happily at 'Princess Mia's welcome ball.' I didn't want this, my mother had forcefully arranged this ball. Honestly, I didn't enjoy even one bit of this ball and I wanted nothing, but to rest peacefully in my quiet room. I still hadn't met my sister,
