Chapter 40

Lexi was outside the hospital room, asking a doctor about Cade's recovery post-surgery.

Gwen was in the hospital room. Her eyes were fixed on the gray-haired man on the hospital bed.

Cade felt a little helpless. It wasn't his first time being stared at like that.

"Would you like some fruit, Mdm. Smith?"

Gwen came back to her senses. She couldn't believe that she daydreamed while looking at a man. Feeling embarrassed, she replied, "I'm good, thank you."

After asking about Cade's recovery, Lexi returned to the hospital ward in a good mood.

"Cade, the doctor said you can be discharged soon."

Cade smiled warmly and responded, "Thank you, Lexi."

His gaze landed on the splint on her arm.

He had seen the news. He knew how her arm injury had come about. That made him think about the earlier news relating to Zachary and Yvonne.

"Mdm. Smith, I'd like to have a word with Lexi. Would that be okay?"

Gwen looked at him shyly. She might be naive, but she wasn't stupid. She nodde
