Natasha's POV

"I saw exactly what happened, I did. You rolled down from that little slope there, not even my bag stopped you, and you ended up right in the river. Thick accent and all."

Only then did I take a good look at the woman beside me. She seemed to be in her forties, with short hair, wearing a floral blouse, gray pants, and carrying a military green tote bag slung over one shoulder. Plain but neat and tidy.

Jaclyn Dills came over to help Daniel into the house and sit him down. The woman stood at the door and said, "My feet are dirty, your place is clean. I won't come in. You take care now, old man. I'm off." Without waiting for my response, she turned and ran off. I tried to chase after her but couldn't catch up.

I came back and sat beside his father, asking, "Where did you go wandering off to? How did you manage to fall?"
