The birthday surprise

I walked into the living room, finding the house unusually quiet. I assumed Simon must have left early.

One of the new maids Simon had hired, Tracy, greeted me with a cheery "Good morning, ma'am."

I smiled back at her. "Hello, Tracy."

She relayed a message from Simon. "Mr. Simon asked me to tell you to please have breakfast before leaving the house this morning," she informed me.

I chuckled and replied, "Did you also tell him that I'm not a baby and he shouldn't worry about me?" I playfully waved her off as I made my way to the dining table.

Sitting down, I couldn't help but feast my eyes on the array of food spread out before me. My stomach growled in anticipation as I absentmindedly rubbed it.

"Well, little one, Daddy said we should get fat for him," I teased, taking a bite of a delicious pancake drenched in maple syrup. It tasted heavenly.
