Chapter Two

I stepped back and looked up to see who it was and my breath hitched. Holy fuck! I was met with a pair of gorgeous chocolate brown eyes and plump red lips. He was by far the most attractive guy I have ever laid my eyes on.

“I’m sorr--- I’m sorry,” I started to stutter and embarrass myself in front of this really cute guy. Way to go, Ash.

The worse thing was, he didn’t even look at me and rushed past me like I didn’t exist. I felt a little bad and pissed at myself for feeling that way. I shook myself out of my trance and headed to my orientation. I reached my class on time and started to find a seat. Everyone was chatting like they knew each other before. I began to feel nervous and mentally scolded myself for roaming around the campus instead of finding a seat before everyone came.

Finally, I found a seat at the corner of the room and sunk into the chair. Everyone was talking among themselves and going through the course material in front of them. I felt like a loner and ran my hands through my hair in frustration.

“Hey, Are you alright?” I heard a voice next to me. Great, I already looked like I was gonna pass out. I hesitantly turned and found a short wavy-haired guy with specs looking at me with concern.

“I’m fine, I’m just nervous.” I gave him a nervous smile. He seemed friendly and smiled back at me.

“I know, I’m nervous too. I’m Chad.” He introduced himself and gave a lopsided grin, extending his hand.

“I’m Ashley,” I shook his hand and relaxed at the prospect of making a new friend.

He seemed nice and tried to have a conversation with me now and then throughout orientation. I felt proud of myself that I made a friend on my first day. We walked outside the class together and waved goodbye. The rest of the day went pretty much fine and I ended up having another class with Chad. I also had two assignments for the day and was exhausted already. Instead of walking back home, I decided to call Emma and told her that I was waiting near the entrance. While I was waiting for her, I saw the guy I bumped into earlier this morning. He was leaning against his car with his friends and laughing. Damn! He was really attractive. He wore a light blue button-down shirt with his sleeves rolled up and dark stone jeans. His hair was tousled in a careless manner which made him look hot as hell. He had a perfect jawline with a day old stubble. I wondered how it would feel to run my hands through his jawline.

Woah! Where did that come from?

I caught myself staring at him and peeled my eyes from him. What was wrong with me? I was acting like a teenage girl. After what felt like forever, Emma pulled up and I got in. The drive home was surprisingly quiet.

Once we reached home, Emma started to bomb me with questions “How was the class? Did you meet any hot guys? Did you make any friends?” Spoke too soon.

“Slow down, Jesus!” I laughed as I sat down on the couch, telling her what happened throughout my day but omitting the sexy brown eyes along the way.

“And?” she eyed me suspiciously.

“And that’s all,” I tried to keep myself busy by walking into the kitchen to get a glass of water.

“Spill it, you liar!” She stated casually, while following me into the kitchen, sitting on top of the counter. I sighed and told her all about the little encounter with Mr.brown eyes.

“Now that’s what I’m talking about. Trust me, Ash, when he looks at you he won’t be able to take his eyes off you,” she squealed. God, does this girl ever run out of energy?

“I don’t think that’s possible, Em, he is way out of my league and I don’t care if he looks at me or not. I’m not interested. It was just some stupid accident.”

“Whatever you say,” she grinned at me wickedly. There was no winning with her.

After dinner, I went to my room and changed into a comfortable loose shirt and a pair of yoga pants. I started to work on my assignments and halfway through it, I was sleepy and couldn’t keep my eyes open, so I got under my sheets and tried to sleep. But a certain pair of brown eyes was haunting me. I twisted and turned, finally drifting to sleep.

The next day was pretty much the same and boring. I got ready wearing a yellow crop top and black jeans and I had to walk as Emma was out with the car. I rushed to my classes, and once there, I could see many familiar faces in my class from the previous day. In one of my classes, I didn’t know we had to read a particular chapter and come prepared for a mini pop quiz. Let’s just say the professor was not happy about it and took it upon himself to humiliate me in front of the entire class. I was pissed and ready for this day to end already.

Finally, when the class was over, I rushed out of my class only to bump into someone again and my books went flying all over the hallway floor.

“For fuck sake, Can’t anyone watch where they are going?? Asshole,” I mumbled, pissed out of my mind, and started picking up my stuff from the ground without bothering to look up.

“Well, that’s pretty harsh considering you bumped into me. You should watch where you are going next time.” He replied cockily. The nerve he had, I looked up to see who it was and my jaw dropped.

It was Mr.brown eyes. Holy fuck!

I was on my knees and cursing at the jerk who made me drop my books, and it was him. How embarrassing! I mumbled a sorry and quickly collected my things and hurried away.

“Wait,” he called out to me, making me stop in my tracks.

“I bumped into you yesterday right?” So he does remember.

“Yes, you did,” I said in a stern tone with a matching straight face.

“Then I guess we are even. Also, I didn’t have a chance to say sorry as I was in a hurry to get to my class, I’m sorry.” He seemed sincere and flashed me a bright smile showcasing his straight white teeth and I couldn’t hear a word he said as I was thinking about what it would be like to kiss those plump lips. Something was seriously wrong with me. I was behaving like a hormonal teenager around this guy.

“Huh?” I stammered out.

“I said I’m sorry,” he repeated himself with a huge smirk on his face.

“It’s fine. I should get going.” I rushed out and tried to escape before I could humiliate myself further.

“I’m Jake,” he reached out his hand to stop me from leaving and offering to shake it.

“Uhh..I’m Ashley, you can call me Ash or Ashley, I don’t mind.” I babbled out as I shook his hand.

He smiled and I swear I saw a dimple.

“I’ll see you around then, Ashley,” he stressed out my name while looking straight into my eyes before walking away. What the hell was that?
