With everything that had been happening over the past few days, everyone had been on alert. There were other records of strange activities, such as sudden accidents and strange fires.

It was when the time for prom came that everything had lessened. Prom was the talk of everyone in town, especially the young ladies. It was mostly there that young people found their mates and it was held once every year.

I wasn't ecstatic about it at all. With everything that had been happening to me, the taste of joy to others tasted sour to me.
