Hael’s P.O.V.

It must’ve been something bad because her shoulders instantly relaxed under my hands. Her serene expression chiseled away at my anger despite how desperately I tried to hold onto it.

She felt safe with me. Not only that, but she’d truly forgiven me for trying to end her life. I couldn’t wrap my head around it. Couldn’t understand how someone could have that much compassion and understanding.

Her lips were still puffy from when I’d licked, sucked, and nibbled every inch of them. With guilt tugging her pretty face into a grimace, she rolled her lower lip in between her teeth.

“I was with Cole when Arianna showed up at the party. It was too packed for me to make it through the crowd, so I promised him I’d stay out in the hallway. There was a window right next to me, and I just so happened to turn and look out of it. I saw Mykelle, and uh—” As she trailed off, I noticed an odd exchange happen between her and Cole.

He looked a bit surprised, his eyebrows raised just a fractio
