Jordyn smiled as she woke up to a strong smell of pine. She tried to roll over to face him but she couldn’t move. She wiggled her wrists only to feel the silver sting her. Opening her eyes she could see that she was in some sort of basement, maybe a dungeon. She glanced around the room, starting to panic. ‘Jayce, Myra, somebody.’ She tried to mindlink them.
“I wouldn’t bother, they can’t hear you.” The calm deep voice came from the shadows.
“Who are you?” The voice that came out was not hers but Vivian’s.
“I’m none of your concern, yet. Leon sent me.”
“Why would Leon send you?” She was trying not to let her voice shake.
“Well, I wo
Walking into his brother’s hospital room only made the feeling worse. Josh was smiling at him but all Jayce could smell was death, mixed with Josh’s usual cedar wood smell. The smell was enough to make Jayce’s stomach turn. He hid his sudden disgust quickly and returned the smile, trying to ignore the putrid smell. “How are you feeling Josh?”“I’m feeling better.” His voice was weak, out of breath, and being a wolf and his brother Jayce knew he was lying.‘What’s wrong?’ Jayce mind-linked him.‘Something feels off to me. Everything feels and looks hazy. I feel sick to my stomach and my head is killing me. I have to pee and I’m not even sure if I can stand on my own yet, they took the catheter out an hour ago.’
Jordyn opened her eyes and wiped her face, shocked that she had gotten one arm free. Her nose was telling her she was in the same place as before, even though it looked like a bomb had gone off and blown up half of the room. Dust was still settling around the room but she couldn’t really smell anything that could have done that amount of damage. Was it her that caused all the destruction?“I believe you chipped my fang.” The way he spoke had the hair on her neck standing up. He sounded calm which she knew could be even more dangerous than screaming and yelling. She tugged on the one arm that was still chained, hoping that whatever had blown up had done some damage to that one. It clanked, making all of her hopes go out the window. “You bit me.” She answered.“Ah, yes, and now I kn
Jordyn was back in the cell, Leviathan frozen in terror as he stared straight into her eyes. She took his traumatized state as a way to escape and flung her head into his, knocking him down. She started to shift, not caring about her clothes, hoping that the silver wouldn’t burn her wrists too bad. She was shocked at how little resistance the cuffs gave her before shattering. She felt the burns but didn’t have time to question anything. Fully in wolf form, she ran. Not knowing where she was didn’t alter her plan at all. She went with her instincts and followed her nose the best she could with the thunderstorm that was happening as soon as she got out of the house she was being held hostage in. She ran deep into the forest, praying for the scent to quit fading, but it was gone all too soon as her fur soaked with the heavy downpour of rain. Her adrenaline was going and in her wolf form she should have never
Jayce and Will had spent all week calling other packs trying to get a location on Jordyn, or any information they could find. Myra hadn’t had any more visions since the one of Jordyn getting bitten. Jayce scratched the stubble on his chin that started to grow. “It’s been a week, Will.”“I know, the entire pack is on high alert without her.” Will returned.“We have to find her.” He raised his voice as he slammed his hands down on the desk.Jake walked in before Will could even answer him. His cell was held up against his ear as he repeated ‘uh huh’, and walked over to the map with the pack territories on it, marking a spot that was in between pack borders just a few miles from a human city. “That’s a twelve hour drive from here, can’t you s
“We should probably stop and change drivers soon too, Will can take over while I get a little shut-eye. I know you wouldn’t want to leave her side unless you had too, two drivers is enough.” Ethan stated. “We should stop at the next store, grab her a blanket for now and some clothes for when she wakes up, you know how she hates being naked in public.”“Why do you think she was in human form? Wouldn’t she have just stayed in wolf form until we found her?” Will asked.“I don’t know, hopefully Jordyn will have some answers for us when she wakes up.” Ethan answered. “I don’t know why you didn’t ask her when we found her.” He added as they pulled into a supermarket store parking lot.“I didn’t have the heart to, you saw
Jayce was startled awake by the sounds of Jordyn vomiting. He jumped up, glad that she was finally awake. She’d been in the pack hospital for two days without waking up. The first thing Myra did when they got back was hook her up on an IV to try and flush the wolfsbane and vampire venom from her system. Her healing magic wasn’t working well with the mix of the two, even Marilyn couldn’t touch it. He rushed over to her bedside, pushing the nurse call button as he tried to keep her from tearing out her IV.“Jordyn, baby, calm down.” He tried to get her to settle down. She glanced up at him with her pitch black eyes. “I’m not your experiment.” Vivian’s voice was cruel and unforgiving.Jayce put his hand on her shoulder, trying to get her to regain control or a
Jayce tried his hardest not to let Shadow take over and keep himself from losing what little food he had eaten. He looked over at Myra who had tears streaming down her face and her hand covering her face. Even the nurses who were halfway out of the room seemed disturbed. “Did you see that too?” They all nodded without saying a word. He glanced over at Jordyn who’s eyes were starting to fade back to her violet colored eyes. He tried to get up to rush over and keep her from collapsing, but she didn’t. She just curled back up on the bed and covered herself up. Jayce could see her shivering again, and apparently so could Myra. “Go get her a warm blanket and some hot cocoa, made with coconut milk instead of whole milk. It needs to be light on her stomach.” She ordered the nurses who had no problem leaving the room. “Clock out once you’re done and go home, do
“Jordyn, what the hell was that?” Myra snapped with her hands on her hips. “He was just trying to help you and comfort you..” “Myra, I can’t feel Silver anymore. I think she’s gone.” Jordyn admitted as she sat up, pulling her knees into her chest and wrapping her arms around them. “When I broke free I shifted and ran, but I couldn’t talk to Silver at all, then without me wanting too I shifted back to human. I was cold, naked, and defenseless, trying to hide under a tree. I couldn’t run as fast as usual and I felt really weak.” “Jordyn, that’s terrible.” Myra rushed over to the bed and gave her a comforting hug. “It could just be a side effect of the wolfsbane.” “Silver has never left me before Myra, she’s always been there, even when she’s mad.” Jordyn stated. “What if he took her from me forever?”
