85. TO THE PIT

My heart sank into the pit of my stomach.

My wolf stirred uncomfortably inside of my mind. I had run out of excuses to give. From the way my mother looked at me, it showed that she was not going to stop until we found the truth. I needed to give her something.

The last thing I wanted was for her to know that I was about to visit the pit. She could lock me up in this room if she had to, just to make sure that I would not interfere.

"Say something, Zira. Has the cat got your sharp little tongue?" She demanded.

I shook my head at her. I looked around the room as I tried to find something good enough. If I did not speak soon, she was going to pull me by the ear and probably start searching me.

She had always believed that I was never up to any good despite being the quiet child before. And now, I had gone and become the rebellious one.

My eyes soon fell on my father's journal and I decided to use that instead. At least, I could get away with it.
