Chapter Thirty

Ava.

At some point when Jake talked about some programming languages. I zoned out. Not because he was boring. He was cool and brought a smile upon my face a few times. 

But with everything happening around and seeing Avery clinging to life, I just fell into a dark hole. A part of my life I tried hard not to remember resurfaced in my mind and I couldn't fight it off this time. 

I remember being sixteen, walking home, I had left Avery at school for violin practice and was having stomach cramps she had sent me home to rest. 

I remember the sun hitting me in the face, draining every last bit of energy I had as I walked slowly to our house down the street. 

Mom would be home by now, and I was almost salivating as I imagined
