For days, I drank myself to stupor. I couldn't believe Lorrie, nor could I believe Xander. How could the both of them run with my money? Lorrie had done a lot of things that angered me, but this was too far. I never expected her to go as far as that. How could she steal my money and run? Why in the world would she do that?

Her father had refused to see me since the past week. That was shameless. He couldn't take responsibility for his daughter's doings. Thinking about Xander was the worst. I trusted him with everything. Had he and Lorrie been laughing behind my back? Could they have done more harm that I wasn't aware of?

But Xander had been so loyal. How could he do such a thing? It was so hard to believe. I really couldn't see Xander betraying me.

Why would he betray me? Or maybe it was just me who had ignored all the signs. He had been particularly careful whenever it came to Lorrie, and the times I had thought seriously of divorcing her, he had advised me not to.
