Chapter 29 - Arya
Walking back from the pack hospital, I feel a new lightness that I haven’t felt in a long time. I’m part of a new pack, one that seems to respect and accept me. I have two amazing mates who have done nothing but protect and care for me. And I now have in-laws. A whole family, complete and ready to love me.
I just hope that it’s not too good to be true.
Or that Mathias doesn’t come in and ruin it.
“What’s with the sudden sadness, Ari?” Xander asks, squeezing my hand in his.
I look up into his chocolate eyes and nearly melt at the love, concern, and devotion in his eyes. I stop walking and lean my head on his shoulder. “Nothing. Just old insecurities rearing their ugly heads.”

We walk to the edge of the woods and Devin grabs a tote bag out of a chest by a tree. We quickly strip and stuff our clothes into the bag before shifting. We had seen Arya’s wolf when she first arrived back at Artemis Pack. She is beautiful. Her wolf is large, which now makes sense, knowing that she is an alpha. She is jet black with white markings down her muzzle and between her eyes, as well as a large white spot on her chest. Her body is leanly muscled, built for speed and agility. The next afternoon, Gael, Hakeem, and I are standing in front of the packhouse as a black Chevy Tahoe pulls into the drive. The windows are heavily tinted, so I can’t see any of the car's occupants.
