Chapter 76 - Hakeem
Keegan left his beta, Donavan, in charge while he and Patrice...got acquainted. Donavan and a few of the other wolves sat down with Alessandra, Liam, Jordan, Gael, and me to look over a map of Mathias’s territory from their vehicles.
Now Mathias wasn’t stupid enough to give us a map that had all of his safe houses and stuff on it, but the fact that we had a more accurate view of his territory, including hunting trails, small ponds, and shading for the dense parts of the forest was much more helpful than the general view we got from a typical human map.

We are all in position, listening to the Lycaon Pack climb out of their vehicles. They are cussing and growling at each other until we hear a wolf I assume is Ivan scream at them all to “quit your bitching and get to work unpacking.”I watch from the window to ensure that they don’t see any of our wolves before I nod to Sam. He links the wolves that are providing the distraction. Today I am being discharged from the hospital. Mathias had beaten the absolute shit out of me when I got back, not even listening to what I had to say. I am honestly lucky to be alive. Mathias has come to visit me a few times since. He has never apologized, just asked me to tell him what happened. I fed him the bullshit story Arya and I came up with. He was like a police interrogator, asking me to tell him the story over and over again, looking for inconsistencies. I’m not sure why he was doing it and not Gamma Blake. The ride back to Diana Pack is long and monotonous. It’s a blessing to be back and away from other people. They are all well meaning and worried about me, but I need to be alone. That includes being away from Devin and Xander. I love them both. More than anything in this world. But looking at them just reminds me of my failure. My failure to give them a pup.
