Chapter 2

Myra's POV

"Maa do I really need to come with you!!!!" I repeated the same sentence for the 15th time even though I already know the answer.

"Myra stop whining like a kid and stop irritating me." She said irritated

"Huhh, I don't even know why I am supposed to go to a 'society culture program' where only bitchy aunties are found." I said getting ready to jump out of the car.

"Mind your language Myra" she said glaring at me.

Huh, am I a teenager that she is asking me to mind my language.

"Seriously Maa you are no less than them" yeah she is the head of that so called society committee 'ladies group'.

She didn't say anything, pretending as if she didn't hear me.

Zeeshant's POV

I'm here to drop my mom off at some 'society ladies program'.

Never knew she does such things as well.

"I'll go now and take care of yourself, don't overwork, and also call me when you reach back home." She said as if she is here to drop me off at school.

"Mom, I'm not a kid anymore." I said.

"You are always a kid to me". She said, completely ending the conversation.

"Go home and rest , don't start working again. I asked Nishant to come over to give you company." She said collecting her things from the car.

"Seriously mom, you called that chipmunk to give me company!!? He doesn't even let me work nor let me live in peace" I said, completely irritated.

"You both better behave" she said with a strict tone telling me to make sure we both behave well, also ignoring what I said.

"Okkahhh" I said, rolling my eyes at her.

"I'll go now" she said Stepping outside the car and there are 6 to 7 ladies already there to welcome her.

She is invited as a chief guest. She never did such things but she said "It's my friend's event" so she has to go.

I feel so proud looking at that. The feeling when you know that people respect your parents because of you.

That feeling is the best. Knowing all my hardwork has resulted in a good way.

Looking at them I also noticed a young girl probably in her 20s standing there with a lady who I guess is the head of all the ladies standing there.

She looks extremely bored and to my guess she is probably forced to come here.

She has long black hair , hypnotising eyes and a contagious smile.

She smiled at my mom genuinely. Though she was forced to greet but she didn't make it visible.

"So kind." I said smiling.

I left after seeing them enter the building.

Myra's POV

I have no idea why I'm forced to come to an 'only old ladies' event. I don't even see a single young woman present here. This is so awkward, especially all these bitchy ladies looking at me as if I robbed their houses.

I never understood the concept of such ladies' events because wherever you see you'll find them either bitching about someone or judging the shit out of someone. Well there are some who are trying to get close to this one lady. I heard one of the bitchy lady ask her "is your son single? My daughter is the same age as him" to which she politely replied "I already have my eyes on someone" and smiled.

I had no idea who she is but looking at her I know she isn't like the other ladies here.

She has a genuine smile on her face and also seems like the only intelligent woman here.

My mother literally forced me to greet her right in front of her.

These ladies can't even hide their real intentions seriously.

I greeted her genuinely cause she seemed just like me. Not in other ways but in a way where I feel like we might have the same thinking somewhere.

I have no idea what is happening here.

I am just following my mother everywhere she goes and greeting everyone she asks me to.

"Aa dhingli" ( dhingli is a doll. In gujarati families they call small girls dhingli in a loving way. It means cute and pretty).

I heard my aunty calling me.

Well she is my mother's one and only open minded as well as most intelligent friend.

She calls me dhingli ever since I was a kid. It's always so much refreshing to meet her. She is like a powerhouse of energy. Every Time you'll meet her you will see her laughing, smiling or telling her jokes.

She has a cheerful and bubbly personality. I love people like her.

They can make anyone comfortable around them in a minute without you even trying.

"Hey beautiful" I said with a big smile while going towards her.

"Hehe me and beautiful!? Suits well" she said laughing.

Well one thing about her she is also full of herself not in a bad way but rather a good one.

"Of course, no doubt," I said, agreeing to her.

"Anyways, where's that annoying old lady?" she asked, referring the 'old annoying lady' to my mother.

See this is why I said she is the most intelligent.

"Might be here somewhere, bitching about someone" I said, rolling my eyes.

"I know right. She really needs to stop coming to such events. You know she literally forced me to come here.” She said Annoyed by my mother's actions just like me.

"Same, same, she forced me as well" I said looking around to find her and lucky I spotted her with the lady that I met earlier.

My mother looked so happy to see her.

I wonder who she is.

Suddenly my mother looked at me and asked me and aunty to come. We both went but aunty walked farther and hugged that lady with the biggest smile while the lady also had the same smile like aunty.

I guess aunty knows her. They seem pretty close by the way they hugged each other.

"Kem che Rasila?" (How are you Rasila?) The lady asked my aunty.

"Ekdum tara var jevi" (As great as your husband). Aunty said laughing the lady playfully hit aunty on the shoulder, looks like it's their inside joke.

Cause it was kinda weird to say.

"Well meet my friend Myra" Aunty introduced me to the lady referring to me as her friend making all of us laugh.

You see this is how my Rasila Aunty is.

The lady looked at me and smiled.

"Hello I'm Amita Mehra" she said, forwarding her hand for a handshake.

"Hey I'm Myra". I gladly accepted her handshake.

I really loved the way she greeted me cause her ladies greet each other with taunts and insults but she really asked for a handshake. I'm already liking her.

"She's my daughter," My mother said, smiling widely.

I raised my eyebrow to her. There's definitely something going on in her mind.

After few hours

"Can't believe I really spent 5 hours between those ladies" I said not believing what I said myself.

"You should come here often , they all seemed to like you" My mom said.

"They were so obvious about not liking me." I whispered while rolling my eyes.

Seriously she didn't even notice how they were indirectly insulting her or is she pretending not to know.

They really said, "How come you have such a beautiful girl!"

Duh, of course my parents are beautiful enough to have a beautiful daughter like me.

Not to mention how few of them asked me to marry their sons.

Seriously they all seemed on drugs to me. They all are just so bad for society.

Now I understand how my mother has such a type of thinking.

"This is how society is," My mother said, looking out of the window. She seemed sad.

"This generation doesn't understand why us old people have orthodox thinking. It is because of the society that we are told to be a part of. Everybody in this world is like this. People who are good to you are bad to someone else while people who are bad to you are also good to someone else. It's just about priorities. We cannot expect everyone to be good and change their thinking the way we want. We grew up like this and will grow like this. You should be lucky that at least you have your brother to support you. When I was young my brother used to beat us for even speaking Infront of him." She said, still looking out the window.

I have no words to speak. I know how great my mother is though she turns into a monster sometimes but she is still my mother who loves me.

Zeeshant's POV

"What were you both thinking while doing this!?" My mom said glaring at both of us who had no words to speak.

Well according to her we were supposed to behave well but we ended up having a fi*ht with the pillows that caused a little mess i* .

Hehe not little but a big one.

This is all because of that monkey. Look at him he is really stopping himself from laughing out loud while sealing his lips.

"It is all because of this dumbhead mom" I said Annoyed.

"Wahh now you are blaming me for making this mess when you were the first one to take the pillow and hit me" he said as if he was the victim and only I was at fault.

"Then who asked you to disturb me while I was working and that also with that third class singing of yours" I said, rolling my eyes at him.

"THIRD CLASS SINGING!!??? SERIOUSLY?????" He said acting shocked. Such a drama queen.

"Yeah or should i say that it made my ears bleed or maybe that it made me wish that i should've died before hearing such a voice" I said with the same dramatic voice.

"That is too much okay you are going overboard now. Don't insult my singing I'm telling you or else" he stopped in between thinking of something to say.

"Or else what haa what are you going to do, start singing again? Go ahead cause I've already become deaf after hearing you sing"

" I'M TELLING YOU STOP HAA" he shouted.

"WHAT IF I DON'T HAA" I said with the same volume.

"SHUT UP BOTH OF YOU" we both flinched hearing my mom shout.

"RAMESH I WANT THIS WHOLE ROOM CLEANED IN NEXT 30 MINUTES" she said to the house cleaner.

"And you both , this is the last warning. If you both fight after this I'm going to kick you both out of the house" she said glaring at us and then left.

As soon as she left Ramesh entered and started cleaning.

While Nishant had a small smile on his face. Is he high?

"Hey you ! " I said, calling him.

"Yeah" he said looking at me with the same smile making me want to puke right there.

"Why the fuck are you smiling like a psycho!?" I asked him

"You know whenever she scolds us I can see my mother in her. She also used to scold me like this. I miss her so much"

He said with a sad smile.

"Come here" I said and pulled him in a hug.

No matter how much he irritates me or how much I hate him , he is still my best friend. No matter how much we fight or how much I want to kill him , he is still the other half. He has been my family, my friend, my best friend, and everything that someone needs in their lives.

He took care of me just like how a bird takes care of her newborn.

Compliments me like a father who is proud of his child after he did his first public performance.

Celebrates everything about me like it's my 1st ever birthday.

Without him I'm incomplete, he is my other half , my everything I could say.

Zeeshant is incomplete without Nishant.

"How long are you planning to hold me like this?" he said while making a disgusted face.

"Fuck off" I said.

Always be grateful that you have your favourite person with you because there are others who don't......
