Quincy glanced at Renee, who was seated opposite her. Renee had started eating without paying them any mind. She smiled and said, “I admire you for having such a pretty daughter as well.”

Mrs. Sullivan glanced at Renee. She was not even her biological child. What was there to admire about her?

“Sis Quincy, don’t praise me for being pretty. I’m afraid that everything will backfire on me,” Renee said after taking a sip of her wine.

“Backfire? What do you mean?” Quincy did not understand.

Renee shrugged and said confidently, “I know that I was born with a beautiful appearance, but I don’t need others to praise me for that. What if God hears the praises and decides to take back all my beauty?”

Quincy did not understand why she had such thoughts. She simply smiled and said, “I won’t praise you, then.”

“What kind of beauty do you think you were born with? You’re not being serious at all,” Carter reprimanded his daughter.
