Daisy's P.O.V.

I know tonight could have been so much worse, and even though the owner of the pub was there the whole time at the bar tonight, I don’t know if he would’ve come to my rescue so easily if Mateo hadn’t stepped in.

I appreciate that he followed me home, but I feel so bad as we both shut off our vehicles. He even walks me to the door. His hand still has some spots of caked-on blood from the previous fight and his face is covered in cuts, a bruise forming on the left underside of his jaw that even I can see through his beard as we get under the light on the porch.

He was indeed a hero for taking me home I saw no one else on the road, no bikes anyway, so his choice to stick with me must’ve been enough to deter them from doing any more attacks after the pub brawl.
