Chapter Twenty Three: Searching For a Date

Her school attendance was almost perfect to where she can slack off anytime. Not that bad in her grades if she will be absent at the acquaintance party. She thought so.

“Hey, don’t tell me you’re not interested to come?” Her friend’s mind is more advance than her.

“Hmm, I’ll be interested if you tell me who will be your date first.” For a very long time, she was her friend, not even at any moment did she remembers her friend was dating any guy. Or maybe her love life was so private for her to know it, even if she was her best friend. Though her friend has five years ahead of her, it is not a reason for her not to tell her about her dating the opposite gender.

“I’ll introduce him to you soon, don’t be so excited.” Oh, really. Her eyes broadened in surprise.

“Thank God, finally! You allow me to know your dating status. I could say, I’m not a girl anymore but a grown-up individual who’s ready to listen to some relationship matter of my best friend.” She reacted to her friend while teasing her.

“Of course, you are. You can also have a boyfriend now. I would love to know you’ll be in love with some normal guy.” Speaking of a normal guy, she’s contemplating who can be her date at the acquaintance party since she assured her friend she will attend.

“I don’t have a guy in mind though.” But she’s actually thinking of Vince or Will? They were only the guy she had known who’s following her around recently.

“How about the guy in the library? The one you’ve been dreaming of? What do you think of him, huh? Or are you thinking, your playmate friend I haven’t met yet? When will you introduce him to me? I’m quite curious about him.” Her friend thought the same thing from her mind.

Jean didn’t know Will from their childhood because she became her childhood friend when she started taking up her therapy session with Jean’s mother. And because Jean’s family wasn’t living in their neighborhood. Will’s family already moved to another hometown before she had met Jean. So basically, her childhood memory started from Jean’s existence in her life as she forgot the time, she had known Will. But her unusual dream behavior continued to bother her while growing up until now.

Now that she knew the boy’s face was Will. She is certain that her childhood dream really depicted her childhood memory that she forgot. But there’s a certain memory of her from her dream that she still can’t able to grasp. The accident that happened to her as Jean told her about it by chance when she slipped her tongue, was the thing she was thinking about now.

“Hey Jean, can you please tell me the truth? What happened to me a long time ago, I mean the accident? Well, I will somehow know it for sure. But please, you can just tell me about it.” She persistently asked her friend again, hoping she would tell the details about her accident. Jean is driving when she asked her suddenly. They’re both going to school now.

She decided not to bring her car for today as she wants to experience riding in her best friend's new Lamborghini sports car.

“Patience dear! I promise I will tell you if I am not driving my new baby right now. You know, you’re stressing me out asking suddenly with your unpredictable question.” It wasn’t unpredictable, she was just curious because it is about her life.

“Fine, when will I meet your date?” She teased her to change the topic and forget the stressful mood she made her friend. Leaving her question behind, she knows she would hear the truth, eventually.

“Later dear, be patient, okay.” She answered her, again leaving her question hanging. She suddenly remembered the man in her dreams who looks like Vince, the time when she first dreams about him. He’s the most mysterious person she had ever known. Like her best friend, he always answers her question with no clear description.

They arrived at the school. She and her best friend part their ways to head to their respective places. She went straight to the library before her first-period class begins. While walking in the hallway to the library, she had seen a familiar face who was standing by the wall while talking furiously with his phone. But he hung up when he saw her face.

“Hey, can you be my date at the party?” Wow, what a fast move not beating around the bush. She thought he has a fuming mood when she noticed him earlier while scowling and swearing with someone on the phone. She wants to ask him about it but it is not her character to snoop.

“You broke up with your girlfriend, then ask me on a date? How rude.” She did not ask him about his personal thing, but she annoyed him like she wants to tell him she caught him angrily at someone earlier.

“I don’t have a girlfriend. I heard we have an acquaintance party next week. I needed to attend because one professor of mine required us to come. She will give us plus ten points when we attend on our respective dates. And I need those ten points for me to pass that subject. That’s the reason I was furious earlier. I was talking to one of my classmates.” He explained while scratching his head and smiling at her handsomely like he wants her to help him and say yes to him.

She actually thought he was making a fast move. Well, anyway, when she thinks about it a second time. It will favor her. Giving the thought that she will have an instant date at the party. And because he felt comfortable with this guy standing in her front, with his magnetic power and attractive menace to her innocent mind, which obviously pulled her into him. She gave up again and wants to say yes to him quickly if he will ask her a second time.

“So, what’s your answer?” He read her thought maybe that he repeated his question. She chuckled in her mind as she was excited about it.

“Well, I still have no date for that party and I also needed to attend so my answer is yes.”
