Chapter 2 The Rainy Night

“The top one is not Mu Yunfei?”

“It’s impossible. Since he answered the first nine questions so quickly, did he just give up the last one deliberately?”

Now that the test was over, the other students started to talk.

“Look! Someone tripped on the last question!” some student called out and attracted everyone’s attention.

At the bottom of the ranking list of the last question appeared the sole red mark, which meant the answer was wrong, while the person who gave the wrong answer was exactly Mu Yunfei!

“Does he actually believe that there’s super power in this world?”

“No way. I think he did that on purpose to be famous.”

“I assume it was intentional, but he will get the highest score anyway since he ranks first for nine questions.”

The other students below were talking.

However, what they didn’t know was that in Mu Yunfei’s opinion, he didn’t believe that there really was super power in this world, but it was a dream. Just like children, they all had fantasies of possessing super power during childhood, so that they could stand up for the one they loved when in danger.

So did Mu Yunfei. However, he wished this dream would come true more than anyone else, even though he was clearly aware that there was no super power in this world, and he kind of realized the dream by picking the wrong answer.

After the exam, the students walked out of the classroom one by one, while Mu Yunfei trailed behind and followed the crowd, moving slowly outside.

The night breeze was cool, and the scenery of the Brund was in plain sight. The flickering light lit up the night. Watching the view, Mu Yunfei felt calm inside.

However, he knew nothing about the near future that lay ahead of him, or how the thought he had just now could affect his destiny.

An Ablasta was prepared in advance at the gate, waiting for the appearance of its owner.

“Young master, your car is ready. Please drive carefully,” A man said as he got off the car and handed the key to Mu Yunfei.

It was Saturday today, and also the day for the regular meeting of Mu Yunfei’s company, DEVIL. Apparently, the butler was waiting here ahead of time.

“Thank you, Uncle Han.” Mu Yunfei was quite respectful of this butler.

Mu Yunfei got in the car slowly, took a deep breath and left all the distracting thoughts behind. Then he pressed the start button, and the next moment, this top sports car, which could reach 100 km/h from 0 in only 2.9 seconds, vanished in the dark night in front of everyone.

...

...

Mu Yunfei’s company was located in an imposing edifice in Caspian, not far away from M University. The rumbling noise of the Ablasta’s engine was resounding through Cleveland Avenue. It was unknown when it had begun to drizzle, and the night S City was shrouded in mist beautifully.

Mu Yunfei was listening to Teylor’s Outside the Woods, enjoying the tranquility of the rainy night and the powerful rumbling sound brought by the V12 engine alone.

He called a number on the phone.

“Boss,” A sweet voice responded on the other end of the line.

“Zheng Xin, I’ll have a meeting in 30 minutes. Tell everyone,” Mu Yunfei said coldly as usual, and then hung up the phone. This was how he ran the company, strictly and authoritatively, which was why he was able to take control of such a big company at the age of 18.

Mu Yunfei had started to invest in DEVIL since 15, and it had developed into a top game company in S City in three years. As the first investor of the company, as well as its biggest contributor, Mu Yunfei became the president of the company without doubt shortly after he came of age.

While today happened to be the day of the monthly meeting for work report.

It seemed that the rain wouldn’t stop in a while, and it slapped at the 24-hour city ruthlessly. The Ablasta drove through the city on the rainy night as if it was a flood dragon in the water, giving a deep rumbling sound.

“Voom... Voom...”

A sudden clap of thunder startled Mu Yunfei, and he eased his foot off the accelerator. Since it was raining heavily, it was better for him to drive slowly.

The wipers moved from side to side like a crazy metronome, clearing the rain from the windshield.

The visibility was so poor that it was a vast expanse of whiteness dozens of meters away. The dense raindrops seemed to have already been shattered into tiny drips while in the air.

There were not many vehicles on the road now. Due to the sudden change in the weather, most people chose to take shelter from the heavy rain.

Now, it was playing the Fame Hall by Scripto in the car. However, different from the past, there was some weird current noise in the music. The originally stirring music actually became low and deep now:

“Cause you... burn with the... lightest flame.”

“And the universe’s... gonna know your name...”

“And you’ll... be on the walls of the fame... hall.”

“...”

Mu Yunfei turned his head to the right and saw a shadow projected onto the window which made the rat-tat sound. He thought to himself. Was he speeding? He glanced at the dash board. He was at 60 km/h, not speeding. No way! No one could ever knock on the door of a car running at the speed of 60km/h.

Mu Yunfei was engulfed by overwhelming fear all of a sudden. Who was out there? This was the only doubt in Mu Yunfei’s mind. He didn’t dare to hit the brake because everything was unknown to him.

“Rat-a-tat...” The knocks on the door were getting sharper, as if they were conveying some information.

At this moment, Mu Yunfei’s mind went blank. It never occurred to him that he would see such a supernatural event in his life.

“Whatever, I’ll stop the car and have a look.” He struggled for a while and finally made up his mind.

The strong rumbling sound faded out gradually. While Mu Yunfei felt that his car was decelerating little by little, that shadow stopped knocking too.

Mu Yunfei took the back-up extendable baton on the car door and got off the car.

Mu Yunfei was rain-soaked instantly. He looked back and saw that shadow.

That shadow stood up slowly, turned around and jumped off from the top of the million-dollar Rambo. “I thought you wouldn’t stop the car. You almost freaked me out.”

Before Mu Yunfei was actually a teenage girl. She tucked her rain-soaked long hair behind her ears. Her fair skin appeared extremely smooth and tender against her black clothes, her beautiful eyes pure as water. Mu Yunfei was dumbfounded by her stunning face.

“Who... are you? Why were you on the top of my car?” Mu Yunfei asked at once.

“I’m Nana. As for why I appeared on your car, I don’t know about it either.”

“Nana...” Mu Yunfei repeated, and finally confirmed that he had no memories of such a person.

The two of them were standing in the rain, and the heavy rain looked just like the background for them. “It’s raining so heavily. Where are you going? I can send you there,” Mu Yunfei continued. Now he was very curious about the mysterious girl who suddenly appeared on the top of his car.

“I don’t know,” The girl answered faintly, “I have to follow you around for the time being anyway.”

“Get in the car.”

“What?”

“Just get in the car. When you think of where to go, I’ll send you there.” After that, Mu Yunfei got in the car.

Both of the car doors opened up, and the two wet people got in.

...

“Where to?” Nana asked. Emitting the aroma of cherry blossom all over, she was fixing her completely rain-soaked clothes.

“DEVIL.”

“Where’s that?”

“You’ll know it when you get there.”

“Are you going to kidnap me? That name sounds so frightening,” Nana asked with a horror-struck face.

“Do I look like a kidnapper?”

“You do.”

Mu Yunfei was lost for words, even regretting having this girl go with him.

The car stopped at the entrance of an edifice. The two security guards came to the car with umbrellas and brought both of them into the building. Mu Yunfei tossed the key to one of the security guards at the entrance casually and took Nana into the elevator.

“Are you cold?” Looking at the wet Nana, Mu Yunfei asked.

“I’m alright.” At this moment, Nana’s black clothes were sticking to her body, which showed her curvy figure and aroused his imagination.

“What are you looking at?”

“Nothing.” Mu Yunfei looked away immediately and said.

Soon the elevator reached the top floor. Another woman was standing at the door, who was in her 20s. Her long blackish hair fell over her shoulders, and she was wearing a white shirt, with the top two buttons unfastened. Obviously, she was an excellent and capable woman.

“Zheng Xin, get her some clothes to change into,” Mu Yunfei said as he pointed at Nana beside him.

“OK, Boss. Lady, this way please.” Zheng Xin turned to Nana and said with a smile.

Mu Yunfei watched Nana leaving, took out his phone and sent a text message to Zheng Xin.

“When she gets changed, ask her to wait for me in my office.”

Then Mu Yunfei walked into the meeting room.
