Chapter 82 - all will be well

"Fuck,"

I woke with a start, heart racing and sheets tangled from another night of disturbing dreams where a monstrous wolf lurked just out of sight.

"Another nightmare." Rubbing my eyes with a groan, I tried pushing away the haunting images. I had enough trouble dealing with my new wolf form in waking life without my subconscious churning out more terror.

Stumbling to the bathroom, I splashed cold water on my face and confronted the stranger gazing back wearily from the mirror. Ever since my first traumatic transformation, it felt like I was living in someone else's life, my real self lost somewhere along the way.

Mom kept assuring me I would adjust in time, find balance between two natures. But how could anyone get used to their bones and muscles violently reshaping against their will? Just thinking about the next full moon made my stomach turn.
