Chapter 39

Sean felt a lump form in his throat as he looked at her. He felt like he had failed as a father already, not being able to protect his daughter from being born too early and needing medical intervention.

He leaned in closer to the incubator and reached a hand in to touch her tiny hand. Her fingers curled around his, and he felt a surge of love and protectiveness wash over him. He vowed then and there that he would do whatever it takes to make sure his daughter was healthy and happy.

Over the next few weeks, Sean and Katara spent most of their time at the hospital, watching over their daughter and praying that she would get stronger. They took turns holding her, talking to her, and singing to her. They read her stories and whispered words of love and encouragement into her tiny ear.
