I could feel Vito’s gaze on me throughout the ride but he looked away whenever I turned to look at him. It was a silent ride and we barely said any words to each other.

Shortly after, we arrived at the Plaza Hotel. The name was boldly written at the top of the building. The car glided through the gate and we pulled into the parking lot. A lot of luxurious cars were already parked there.

We got out of the car and I felt a surge of excitement as I looked over the building.

“Walk with me.” Vito stepped out of the car and took my hands. I felt a nervous flutter in my stomach as we walked into the entrance.

As we got in, a host pointed us in the direction where the event was taking place. We walked down into an open space filled with different people. I could tell they were all rich just from the way they dressed. I still had no clue what the event was about.

I accompanied Vito as he went on to exchange pleasantries with all the people he knew. I could tell he was known
