Jennifer had passed out in the same instant the incident occurred. In that instant, her death was visible to her own eyes. Time seemed to have come to pause. She had tried to move but could not. Every part of her felt paralyzed as if yearning for that moment. Yes, that was it. With the two people who meant the most to her suddenly betraying her and then giving her the shitty treatment, life had no more meaning to her. It was okay if it just ended.

The cab driver opened the door with fury registered on his face. He slammed the door shut with great energy and strode to where she lay.

"Damn it!" He growled in anger. "What if I had run you over?"
