I almost didn't remember how I left the basketball court. When I came to my senses, I had already left the campus' main road and taken a path to a lust poplar forest with thick branches and leaves.

Two of the street lamps were broken and the road was dark.

I walked carefully down the gravel path and sat on an empty bench. Finally, I covered my face and sobbed in a low voice.

It was quiet and hot on summer nights. The dense poplar trees obscured the sky, and even the moon could only see a small portion of it through the gaps between the branches and leaves. Only the sound of insects could be heard occasionally in the forest.

Suddenly, a hand covered my mouth from behind.

"Hey beautiful, did you break up with your boyfriend? Why are you crying alone here?"

His hand was sweaty and reeked of alcohol. For a split second, my hair stood on end, and a chill ran down my spine.
