Chapter 33

~Dainin~

The forest was quiet with only the sound of Dainin’s paws hitting the soil. In his haste, he jumped over a fallen tree, causing Sonia to cling to his back as if her life depended on it.

“Don’t be surprised if we’re missing some fur,” his wolf complained, needing to distract himself as they pressed on.

Their trip to White Sand was surprisingly uneventful since the house was abandoned. Escaping was easy enough, but Dainin hesitated when they reached the border.

“What if we can make it to Tessa from here,” he wondered, looking off into the direction of Blue Ridge.

“You know she would tell you, “The pack comes first”,” his wolf stated, but the truth didn’t make his first few steps over the border any easier. He huffed, signaling Sonia to hold on again, before running toward the packhouse.
