A gentle voice spoke as two strong arms grasped her. "I will never say goodbye little one, never." He pulled her out of the well and held her tightly to his body. He could feel her heart pounding, and her body shook as she sobbed. He stroked her hair as he carried her to a tree stump and sat down with her in his lap.
