Mrs. Greenwell was stunned. “Huh?”

Ruth stood up and patted her on the shoulder. “I’ll increase your salary next month!”

Mrs. Greenwell was dumbfounded.

She looked at Ruth, who walked away confidently and disappeared at the top of the stairs, in puzzlement.

Summer rain was unpredictable. The heavy rain hit the windowsill, and its irregular rhythm was distracting.

In the study, a man sat at the table with a stack of documents in front of him. The clock on the wall showed that thirty minutes had passed, but he was still on the first page of the document.

Abel had descended into a strange sense of uncertainty.

He knew that tomorrow was not a good time to meet his parents, but, after seeing the gifts she carefully picked, he could not bear to let her down.

He had never thought that he would have difficulty making decisions one day.
