Chapter 14

Ruth wondered what was wrong with Luna’s brain. When she heard Luna’s threat, she could not help but chuckle. “Go ahead. Let’s see if I’ll get drowned first or you’ll receive a lawyer’s letter first.”

Apollo was a very popular artist.

If Luna started rumors and caused trouble without evidence, the experienced staff members of her company would not let her go even if Ruth did not do anything to her.

While Ruth spoke, her phone on the desk vibrated, and a few messages arrived.

Ruth picked up the phone and cast a glance at the screen. The messages were sent by Caelus.

She cast a glance with unknown meaning at Luna, but Luna was not aware about what was going on. She was focused on Ruth’s words, who allowed her to understand that Ruth and Apollo were not related, so she relaxed.

“Now you know how strong Lockton in Dad’s hand is, right? If you’re smart, quickly delete those photos! Or I’ll tell Dad, and you won’t be able to get any money from Lockton!”

“Oh.”

Ruth’s voice was unconcerned, and she casually tapped open the messages.

[I heard that you recruited Apollo.]

[Isn’t he an artist under Grand Empire Entertainment? Why did he sign a contract with you?]

[How long have you known him?]

[Ruth, how many things did you hide from me?]

[Do you have time? I’m also in Kinsale Clubhouse. Let’s talk.]

[...]

The messages came one after another, and Ruth could feel through the screen that the jerk was anxious.

This was just the beginning, yet he was already panicking.

Ruth curled her red lips slightly. While she listened to the noisy show-off threatening her, she typed a message and sent it to him in reply. [I think the roses at the entrance of Kinsale Clubhouse are quite beautiful.]

[Ruth Lockton! Are you listening to me?]

A hand reached out to grab Ruth’s phone.

She pulled it away with agility from Luna’s hand and put it away. She looked up at Luna. “No, can you repeat?”

Luna glared at Ruth. She felt that Ruth had changed a lot in the years she was gone. It seemed that Ruth no longer cared about anything, which made Luna look like a clown.

Luna clenched her fists, and ruthlessness shone in her eyes. “Why are you so prideful? Do you know why Dad did not trust you three years ago?”

Ruth’s gaze instantly turned cold, and her casual expression disappeared.

“Because Dad knew the truth! He knew that I plotted that incident, but he still sent you abroad!” Luna’s provocative voice brought back the memories that Ruth did not want to recall.

She knew that Callum was involved in the incident, but she did not expect that Luna would talk about it so fearlessly.

When Luna saw that Ruth’s expression changed, she became more arrogant. “So, Dad only cares about me. He is willing to do anything for me! If you still want to stay in the Goldwell family, don’t go against me!”

“Do you think everyone wants the Goldwell family like you?”

“You don’t want it? If you don’t want it, don’t come back! Everything in Lockton belongs to Dad now! And what Dad has belongs to the Goldwell family! When that old man in the hospital dies, everything will end. Do you think you can still be Miss Goldwell at that time?”

“...”

Ruth’s gaze turned completely cold.

She thought that she had trained herself to be invulnerable in the years abroad, but when she heard those words, she still felt suffocated.

They were hoping for her grandpa to die…

It might have been because she was drunk, or perhaps it was because she was triggered by Luna’s fearless attitude, but Ruth’s heart filled with anger.

She was about to lose her cool when the door of the private room was pushed open again, and a person walked in.

Caelus wore casual clothes and looked handsome and smart. He also held a big bouquet of delicate roses in his hand. He greeted people around him before he walked to Ruth.

“Congratulations on taking over Lockton Entertainment.”

“...”
