Chapter 87

Abel’s pupils dilated, and his eyes turned as black as night.

Ruth’s mind went blank. She grabbed her phone and locked it in a panic.

The embarrassing sounds came to a halt.

But the atmosphere in the room was already awkward.

Ruth’s face was burning. Even so, she tried to remain calm. “I-I wasn’t expecting you to be done so soon.”

Abel did not answer her.

Instead, he went to the bed and knelt next to it on one knee before leaning over to Ruth.

Ruth instinctively wanted to shift away from him, but the shadow cast on her seemed to be enchanted with a spell that pinned her in place.

Abel reached out and grabbed her chin to force her to look at him. His heavy breathing spilled on her, and lust raged in his dark eyes.

“Aren’t you thirsty, Mrs. Blakewell?”

Ruth said nothing. Her eyelids twitched, and complicated emotions raged in her heart.

The room was dark, with only the moonlight spilling in through the cracks between the curtains and landing on the maroon-colored wood
